Interesting angle of the photo. Is this animal hoarding or the home of a cat fosterer or temporary cat shelter?

Is it healthy for the cat to be living like this?

No I don't think it is healthy at all - that's why we're trying to talk to the woman. She keeps them in because she says they're not sterilised and she doesn't want them to reproduce. Also she says they might get run over by a car.

Its really very sad when you see such cases. They claim that they are helping the cats when in reality they are doing more harm than good to these animals. I've met a 'twisted' lady who keeps her cats in cages and rooms and claim the vet told her its ok for them to live in such conditions. sigh... Any suggestion Dawn?

Have you seen the place? Do the cats look okay? One sure sign is to look for signs of stress - and you can then tell the lady that the cats are stressed and it's not good for them to live like that.

These people are using cats to fulfill their own psychological needs, but justify their deeds by thinking that they are helping the cats. I think it gives them a sense of power.

As some research seems to suggest, it may be a psychological disorder. People can hoard anything - animals is just one of them.
