Polite Officers

Having spoken to a rude officer today, I spoke to another officer this afternoon who was polite. It's not that all officers are mean people and I do sympathise with some of them. This officer told me that there is a childcare centre in the void deck and some of the parents told him that they'd beat him up if the cats attacked the children. So he says he's torn between people who like cats and dislike cats.

I told him that we didn't want to make it a cat lover versus cat hater debate but about solving the problem and while I'm not sure he was convinced about the vacuum effect, he was open to the idea of working together. He said that would be the best thing all around, that we can work together. That's music to my ears!

Perhaps he could tell these unreasonable parents that some residents would beat him up if the children attack their community cats!
If I could, I would teach all the cats to steer clear of these brats!

To be fair, I find a lot of children like cats - sometimes it's the parents who teach them to dislike the cats.

That's sad but true. How would young children, naturally endowed with curiosity, know what to hate and fear till their parents tell them.

Yes- that's why it's so important to have parents who teach their kids how to be tolerant. Children really take the cue from their parents.

there is a childcare centre at the block where I live. I often hear parents telling their children: "don't go near that cat, he will bite you." On the other hand, there are those who look at their children play with the community cats here with approval. Unfortunately, anecdotally speaking, the latter group appears to be in the minority.

Yes I was just saying to Jolanda that some parents really don't care, but the other day when I saw a child stomp at a cat, the parent told him sharply to stop doing that. I was so pleased! Unfortunately, I have to agree with you that in my experience more parents don't like the cats being there, then do.
