MND Meeting

MND
Originally uploaded by dawnkua.

Marcus, Michelle, Claris, Jolanda and I met with the new Minister of Ministry of National Development today, along with the MND and AVA to see how we can work together.

We were very pleased with the outcome of the meeting, and the Minister was very nice and willing to engage the Society in dialogue.

We hope to work with the Ministry, AVA, TCs, volunteers and everyone else involved to manage the community cat population in what we feel is the most effective, long term and humane solution, which is TNRM.

I've been coming to re-read this entry at least 6 times now, and still can't believe my eyes... will we finally get TNR going?

Is there any possibility the Ministry of National Development approving of cats staying in HDB homes?

Aminah, no concrete details have been discussed as yet and so I don't want to say too much. Also I don't want to speak on behalf of the Ministry. Why not write into the Ministry and let them know how you feel? I'm sure they'd be interested in your feedback.

By the way, we would like to know who is the new minister of state. There is no need to be secretive about it by not mentioning the name here right? Thank you!

Blur - not at all. Sorry, I thought people knew. It's Heng Chee How. The Singapore Government Directory is linked on the main blog. If you're not sure whom someone is in the government sector, it's a good resource to check up.

Not meant to be negative, lets hope it is not the Pre-Election kind of reception that you all received. As we all know, during such GE period, even illegal hawkers will be allowed.

I don't think so. We have been moving in this direction for a while i think. Anyway, it IS a good programme and I think that if it can be sold as such, that the authorities will realise it. The alternative is that we keep working on it at the ground, but working with the government would be so much better.
