Mindset change

I was just speaking to a volunteer and she was complaining that a family nearby keeps letting their cats out. This is causing a problem because they run over to the block of flats. She has gone by three times to ask them to sterilise their cats, but the family keeps insisting that the cats are not their cats. They keep asking her to take the cats away.

I have to say that this needs a whole change mindset change. People keep thinking that the cats aren't 'theirs' and this causes problems. How do we get people to change the way they think about this?

Going for an adoption followup now.

some people just like to 'dare' others because they knows that is the way to make the other party stop their pleas....

Yes it does perplex me about certain people who say they love cats but do not want to contemplate that their lack of responsibility is causing the cats to be killed. I guess we can't change everybody to think the same way and do the best we can under such circumstances.

Imp - they know. Their attitude is that they can't do anything about it. They don't connect the fact that their actions may be indirectly leading to the cats being killed.

Suggest that the cats be taken away (to be sterilised of course) and then tell them that THEY are the cause of the cats' "death"! Consider printing posters on the other "faces" of cat killers: owners who let their cats out, irresponsible feeders, people who abandon cats and kittens, etc. Then place these posters everywhere or distribute them as flyers.
