Email about cats being put down

There is an email going around saying that there ar 16 cats to be put down if they are not adopted and to email Cat Welfare Society. Some people have been writing in asking why we put down cats. First of all, this is a very old email - it was first sent out last year and the person who sent it out retracted it when he realised it was not true. Secondly, the Society does not have a shelter and we do not have any cats with us, nor do we put down cats. The cats WERE on our board, but were being posted on behalf of someone else. Several of the cats were adopted - one unfortunately passed away unfortunately due to kidney failure not very long after he was adopted.

If anyone sends you this email, please do clarify with them.

I understand this email hoax been circulating since last year. It is difficult to stop hoaxes when people believing in them, keep forwarding the emails.

Remember the Bonsai Kitten hoax email?
It's been circulating around now for more than 4 years. Not only in emails, but also in animal forum discussion board websites.

As long as people believe in them, hoaxes still exist.

Hoax die hard ...
Another popular hoax going round for more than 2 decades, up to this very day -
Singapore SPCA send their dead cats to be fed to Singapore zoo lions & tigers .
The story was so popular back then, that SPCA printed in one of their newsletters that it is a hoax, not to believe in the absurd story.
Singapore Zoo fed their lions and tigers good meat from Australia.
They are not fed daily ... just like living in their natural habitat like in the jungles, these
carnivorous animals eats every 2 or 3 days, one big meat meal.
If ever in doubt, go during the tigers and lions feeding time, you see meat like lamb, goat, etc., not cats.
How can the zoo feed the healthy lions, tigers, meat of dead stray cats?
Stray cats sometime have flu, skin scabies fungal problems and other type of infectious diseases.
If our Singapore Zoo healthy lions & tigers eat the dead stray cats, they end up getting viruses passed from the sick, dead cats and the lions & tigers end up getting sick.
And not forgetting the poisonous effects of euthanasia injection from the dead cats going into the tigers and lions digestive system.
If in doubt ask SPCA and officials from the Singapore Zoo ... it is a hoax, no SPCA stray cats
are being fed to tigers, lions in the zoo.
Anyone telling you this story, tell them it is a hoax.

Hi all, there is another email going around about animal abuse. This time the email contains a total of eight disturbing images of cats being slashed by four young guys. I cannot describe how awful and shocking the images are. This has to be a hoax, right? does anyone know anything about it? The subject of the em is "Esto es crueldad" which translates to "This is cruelty'. The email was sent to me by a friend who lives in The States, I live in New Zealand so I'm thinking that this horrible thing is going around the world!

I feel that no matter how you put it, be it a hoax or be it that SPCA puts stray cats to sleep.... They are born into this world just like you and me, its like their lives are worthless and taken away without any choice. Some of these cats that I've come across are really sweet loving cats and I take them as my own pets, why is the SPCA interefering even if they are sterilized by us and well taken care of......
