Trapping cats again

I've been told that this guy is trying to trap cats again. Two of the residents in his estate contacted me to tell me that they saw traps out on a Friday and Saturday and asked what would happen to the cats since the AVA is closed. I asked if anyone in the area saw the cats in the traps and so far none have gone in, but one of them told me that she can't be sure that the cats are all being sent into the AVA.

The two residents are going to try and approach their residents' association. If anyone lives in Seletar Heights estate, drop me an email please as the caregiver there has asked if anyone living there might want to help her approach the residents' association to suggest putting in place a TNRM programme.

well, if he is indeed trapping cats to "do the job" on his home at home, then wouldn't that be akin to animal abuse and KILLING? In other words, grounds to report him?

Of course, I pray this isn't happening! :-(

i sent the story of "this guy" re: http://catwelfare.blogspot.com/2006/09/st-7-9-06.html to my sister and she summed it up quite aptly...

"MADMAN ON THE LOOSE!"

pray he is stopped!

If people are concerned about his trapping of sterilized cats, I have a simple suggestion. When you see a trap, confiscate it, and return it within 24 hours to AVA.
He can come back and borrow it again, of course, but this will keep him busy, and you cannot be charged with theft if you are returning the trap to its legal owner. This dickhead is refusing mediation, refusing schemes to manage community cats, etc. If the fool harrasses cats and caregivers, harrass the S.O.B. right back in a manner that will do the targeted cats some good. If he traps pet cats, consider suing him in small claims court to recover the "fine" charged by AVA to return your cat to you.

If this guy is sending cats to AVA to be killed at the expense of other taxpayers, don't the rest of the people have a right to question his reason for trapping cats to be killed. If he is not sending trapped cats to AVA, then is his means of "disposing" the cats legal?
Is this Mr Tan taking "revenge" against his exposure in the press and on this blog?
Is there a way to shame him in his estate!?
Are his children and wife of the same type of mentality?

I don't think Mr Tan is aware he's featured on this blog - nor does he think it's bad publicity in tthe press since he's the one writing in.

The residents are trying to get organised I think to speak to the Residents' Association about starting a programme. I wrote to them last week but have not heard from them.

Is there no way to stop him short of castration???

Anonymous i think if residents in the estate speak up and give an alternative viewpoint - TNRM, it would be the best way to stop him. If more neighbours are disapproving, then I think he may stop as well.

Fatcat - the traps aren't from the AVA, and they're in his yard as well.

Sorry, Dawn, I thought you said he was getting traps from AVA. If they're on his property, he's within the law. Spray boundaries of his property with cat repellant? Very expensive, though.
Good that the community is organizing. Pet owners can complain to estate management that he is trapping their pets, I suppose, or neighbours can say the garden full of traps is an eyesore, and his behaviour a bad example to their children.

Would a photo of his garden with traps sent to stomp be a deterrent? Or is he beyond salvation? I think we ALL know where he lives and one can't miss the traps there!

Yes fatcat - we hope the other residents do that.

Anonymous it might be - or hopefully if other residents are unhappy with what he does, he may stop.

This guy is sick.

What will he do to the cats after he caught them?

If he torture or ill treat the cats, what is the difference between him and the sick guy in the video?
