Video of man kicking cat

I just saw a most disturbing video that was sent to me by one of the newspapers. It shows this friendly cat going up to a guy in a void deck. The cat walks in front of the guy and the guys sort of lines the cat up in front of his foot. He then pulls back his leg and kicks the cat. The cat goes flying in the air over a distance of a few metres.

The guy filming it on camera is heard laughing and asking the abuser how he feels and the abuser gives the cameraman the thumbs up and smiles, as he says he feels 'good'. There is a good shot of the abuser's face.

I called the reporter up but she says they have no idea where the clip came from originally. They said that the clip was sent in by a concerned reader. Hopefully if the newspaper runs the photo of the guy, someone will recognise him.

The cat ran away - it looked more scared than injured I think. It was a hard kick though - I do hope the cat wasn't badly hurt.

This is a good proof of abuse, can we report him to the police.

It is - I just emailed Deirdre who also received the report and they're taking it up with the police.

Problem now is trying to FIND the abuser.

Dawn, can put up the video here?

The reporter has asked me not to, at least till the story runs. Once I get her permission (and I can figure out how to convert it), I'll do so.

PS Having watched the video again with another volunteer, I'm not sure the cat won't have suffered injuries.

That's a sicko! I hope once the video is disclose, ppl will be able to identify where is the place or someone who know the abuser can report this to the police!

No idea - no distinguishing landmarks. Once I get the go-ahead I'll post the video so hopefully people will be able to see if they can recognise anything - or the paper might have a link to it online.

Agreed! Flash the person's face ALL OVER the media! Press, TV, Internet... Once this person is identified and caught, hopefully this once again serves as another warning/ deterrent to would be animal abusers. As well as spur on vigilance on the part of the community to stand up for Cats!

On a similar front, last friday saw with my own eyes a colleague who hates cats try to kick one of the friendly strays that hang around our office! I was incensed! Told her off but she shouted me down defending her "right". Well, if there was any contact, I'd say let the police decide what "right" she has to kick a cat!

Good to circulate the abuser's face; I hope he can be shamed even if he can't be named. Eventually he'll be recognized, whether those who know him get in touch with the authorities or not.

The video clip could 'accidentally' slip out. Surely no one will mind help advertising this man's face.

I'm sure that the video will circulate at some point. I think it's only right that I get permission from the reporter first though before posting this.

it's hard not to be hurt when the cat is kicked so hard completely unexpectedly. i hope the poor cat is not somewhere suffering from internal injuries. if he is friendly he probably has a caregiver or feeder. hope he/she realises smthg is wrong and brings it to the vet.

is the video dated? it cld have been circulating for some time...

No it isn't Anonymous - and I thought the same thing. I suspect it has a caregiver or an owner, and I do hope they found it!

strange the it seems with heavy sentencing of David Hooi and conviction of the 2nd cat abuser, we do not see a decrease in cat abuse cases but rather an increase and they are getting more and more blatant and rampant. To film it down and post on the net, these guys are either stupid or they are challenging the system.

I don't think it was put on the Net - I think they were circulating it among their friends. It might be similar to those 'happy slapping' cases mentioned in the news of late.

Oh this is so sick and gross! Sick mad man!!

But hey, he is also the world's most stupid person to have the whole thing film, you have hard evidence now, and trust me as long as the police do their job, it is not so hard to find the person real soon, unless he has no proper identification in Singapore

Remember a while back YouTube posted some locals making a mockery out of the NDP wearing just pails over their heads? It took a very short time to identify them as our local young national footballers, utter disgrace to themselves, their families, the team and Singapore

I have the upmost confidence this time this guy will be caught soon, he just gave himself away, all the way to the jail.

Just want to say I don't think this is a case of an increase in cases, but rather I believe it's that MORE PEOPLE are reporting such cases and drawing attention to what's happening.

So in a way, it's a good thing. Not nice to know this is happening (abuse). But hey! at least it isn't going unnoticed anymore! Abusers are being reported and will get their just deserts!!

I think the mobile provider has a way of tracing the source of sms, so I hope the police will engage mobile providers to trace to the source of this video clip.

By this time next week, he may be as infamous as David Hooi or the Wong guy (if the police does its work). Now that people are aware of bringing animal abusers to justice, hope the list of offenders does not go on and on. A strong deterrent is needed to stop animal abuse. In the case of a guy substituting a friendly live cat as a football to to get a feel-good "kick" - canning should be an appropriate punishment.

I really hope and pray that this sick idiot will get caught somehow and get reported to the police. I really wish for justice for the poor cat. At times like this I feel ashamed of mankind :( Where is the humanity??

Dawn, I think you should encourage the press to send the video to the police. They will investigate and find out the person involved.

Animal Abuse is a crime and not report a crime is a crime itself.

Unless, a Private Investigator can be engaged to hunt him down.

But then again, if he is caught, he is only fine or jailed for a while.

Education is more effective than punishment.

This is ridiculous!! Here we are working on so many Animal Abuse issues and there are people out there making a mockery of this.

When is the reporter covering this in the newspaper? Time to use this case to strengthen the cause for stricter penalties for Animal Abuse.

I hope you'll be able to post the clip soon so that we can shame this abuser and his family all over the media.

Yes, agree absolutely with Robin, Lynn Lam and the rest. Since we have the evidence, why not make full use of it? We should never let this scum go scot free. Now with Stomp, it's so easy to just post that bastard's face there. Someone somewhere will definitely be able to recognise him and lead the police to him.

Robin, the video has been sent to the police already so they're looking into it.

Lynn, I think it'll run Friday - I do hope it runs soon.

Anti-human, I do think someone will recognise the guy.
