Removing the wrong cats

Sometimes the problem is that by the time a complaint is referred to us, a lot of time has gone by and when we call the complainants they get frustrated and wonder why nothing was done. In the meantime, the town council is trapping the community cats downstairs - but the problem is the people who let their semi-owned cats run around! These cats are the ones defecating outside their neighbours' homes and causing problems.

So removing the cats means that cats are removed and killed, money is wasted and the complainant is irritated because no action was taken. I spoke with one complainant who also agreed after what I explained that removing the cats downstairs was useless in this context. I don't think he even realised they had been taken away!

About a month ago, two "downstairs" cats were caught by pest control as ordered by a TC property officer, notwithstanding an agreement with the manager. Both later apologized and the cats were promptly released back. They were caught by the estate cleaning company that also has a pest control business (could there be some truth in some residents reporting that estate cleaners have been seen trapping cats?).
Later in the evenings, we spoke to the complainants and this was what we found
1) Complainants unaware downstairs cats were caught
2) They do not want cats killed
3) They just want the poo to be cleared
4) Free roaming home cats were suspected
5) Possible feeding by residents upstairs was also suspected
6) complainants were pleased with demo of sprinkling powderized camphor ball to repel cats.

At the end of the day, complainants, caregivers and cats were smiling....and TC needs not spend a cent.
All TC needs is a change of mindset and professionalism in handling feedback.

2 sterilised cats from Tampines blks 414 and 416 were caught by TC pest controller and are now in AVA.
According to the SMS, they said CWS approved the trapping. I suspect info I received is not accurate.

Yes Anonymous - information is wrong. I've replied to that email with the email from the TC assuring us sterilised cats would be handed over.
