Cat with a rat

Cat with a mouse

People often say that cats do not catch rats.

I saw this cat last night and if you look at the photo, you can see that it's holding a rat in its mouth. If the rat is small enough, cats do catch them but if the rat is too large, obviously they may in turn chase the cats!

I was going to say that people who don't like cats complain they don't kill rats :)

No rats in my house. My dogs will chase the rat too. Happened once when an unwitting rat came in under the gate. Never again did we see another rat after that incident. hahaha

My cat has caught many dragonflies, lizards, and even a bird.

Dawn, this is proof that cats does goes after mice/rats, a natural instinct.

Err, iwooiblog, I think your Teh Cee must have signed a 'peace treaty' with the rats. :)

Maybe iwooiblog has no rats at all! I also notice that rats tend to leave the building when cats moved in. I've seen it happen twice - I think they can smell the cats.

My Hermes had the same colour and a tail like it too... Only God knows where it is now. Hopefully somewhere better.

My cat now gives me birds, if it can find. Poor birdies.

Teh Cee must be a mouse lover. Maybe it has a pet mouse somewhere :)

Nope nope nope, no rats in my home, if there is one, I would probably be the first one to jump! Then my mom would jump too!! LOL

Teh Cee however does have her own toy little rat, it is actually not a cat toy, but a normal mechanical winding rat with wheels, whenever I let loose the toy rate on the floor, Teh Cee will chase the rat and then bite it all over, as if a real prey! She especially goes after the pink tail!!

A friend of mine noted that often even with toy mice, the cats lose interest once the tail is gone.

I think my Pebble has the same mouse and a dozen other mice. But she does not even chase them. Too lazy I think.
