ST (19-1-07)

Another letter about the ban on cats in HDB. What was interesting is that this writer mentioned what quite a few of you have also written to me about - namely that the reply is a standard letter and he even quotes from it.

HDB anti-cat policy is antiquated

Hi Dawn, but he stressed a lot on 'certain breeds'; will the certain breeds make any difference? Cats are different from dogs. Their growth are limited unlike dogs. What's going to happen if HDB allow breeds like Persian and not our local domestic short hair?

I think the breed requirement for HDB in terms of dogs was because of the size. Cats don't vary much in terms of size as you said. Also, if we're talking about fur and the like then our short haired, community cats are the best bet as opposed to many pedigree cats. Some pedigree cats (for example Siamese cats) can also be quite vocal.

I am also unsure what he meant about certain breeds being better for apartment animals - as far as I know, CATS in general, make good apartment animals.
