Window cover

Window cover
Originally uploaded by dawnkua.

I saw this at a caregiver's home yesterday. She lives on the ground floor and mentioned one of her neighbours would look in and complain about her cats. First as you can see, the windows are all wired up. Second, she put up plant boxes to discourage people looking in. She said that it was a cheap solution for her and it seems to work.

I've been working on the AGM report today.

it looks very pretty but is it a hdb flat? if so, is an external planter allowed?

No it's not actually, which she mentioned - but strangely enough she said people didn't complain about the plants, though they had about the cats.

I just wanted to add I'm not suggesting everyone do this - this is just one resident's way of getting around complaints.

Also I should add if you ARE thinking of doing something like this, in addition, make sure the plants are very very secure and aren't going to fall and hit someone. In her case, the cats were easily seen by anyone walking by her block as she is on the ground floor facing the road - and it may not be so much of a problem for others who are not in quite such a public area.

Hmm, why would cats that are kept inside an HDB flat with meshed up window attract so much attention from kaypoh passers-by? I would have complained that the passers-by are invading MY privacy by peeping into MY window! :)

this brings to mind a case a few years ago where this man was walking scantily clothed in the privacy of his own home. his neighbour looked into his flat, got offended and sued him (successfully!) for indecent exposure! i was thinking, shldn't the naked guy have sued the neighbour for breaching HIS privacy??

ok, off topic i know but since the subject of privacy came up...
