New house, dumped cats

I was just speaking to a long-time caregiver. She said that she had been noticing more people dumping of late.

The sad thing is that she said quite a few of these seem to be families that moved out and left the cats when they moved to their new homes. She said that a number of these cats had been sterilised by her because she was worried that they would breed. She said that she had thought they would look after the cats because they seemed to really care for them. Yet when they moved she found them all dumped - and of course this led to complaints from the TC about the increasing number of cats.

cld it be because they are moving from pte housing into a hdb flat and can't keep them legally? or going to a smaller place? tho i do believe the cats wld be able to adapt to less space if given a chance.

whatever it is, i hope these ppl don't pick up new cats for their new home!

No this is a HDB estate. I don't think this is a 5 room flat area though.

This is the reason why when some caregivers decide to help owners with sterilisation of their house cats, they insist that the ears be tipped because some of them are just not trustworthy in their "sayang kuchings" declaration! At least if such cats are dumped or allowed to roam freely, they sport tipped ears.

I seriously cannot understand why people can bear to dump their cats?

Always sad to hear things like that happening.
