Reporter and Cat

This is an interesting video. Here's what happens when a person who has very little experience with cats handles a cat and ignores the warning signs the cat is giving her and then is taken by surprise when the cat lashes out. This may be why people claim cats 'attack' them because they aren't good at watching the warning signs. Note in fact she mentioned the cat was having 'fun' when clearly, it wasn't.

She had better count her lucky stars that the cat did not leave beautiful scratches on her puking face. It's obvious that the cat did not enjoyed the same attention as she did.

I think she has been rather nice about the cat attack.

She was - I'm glad she went to explain that it wasn't the cats fault and that it was a very nice cat.

she IS nice and kind too. cats and for this matter, dogs do almost always do not attack unless they are under some form of stress (same for most of us humans too).

isn't it interesting that all the parties rallied ard the cat? nobody blamed the cat for what it did cos they saw the incident as what it was - the cat reacting to a stressful situation.

had it happened here, the poor cat wld hv been sent to the AVA and the incident used to justify the rounding up and killing of more cats ...

Nice! Had told my class about a local incident, so this will be interesting for them to see; I'll use This link. The cat's reaction was relatively mild - no teeth involved!

Cat was sending warning sounds and its body language suggested it was trying to get away. Reporter, with camera on her, was intent on finishing her story. Result : Bigger story!!
Reporter should adopt the cat lah-Kathleen is famous now, thanks to cat.

This mum is also asking for it, though nothing has happened yet.

And as someone commented, if something does happen, the cat will get blamed.

It's very important for parents to teach their children HOW to handle cats and other animals. I know people whose children are so good with animals, because the parents teach them what to do.
