Black & white cat

Black & white cat
Originally uploaded by dawnkua.

Rebecca and I attended an RC meeting with the caregiver of this cat. She had been told by the TC that there was a persistent complainant in the RC. Within minutes of her speaking, we knew immediately whom it was.

When the caregiver tried to explain what she was doing, he kept asking how she could possibly help. We explained the vacuum effect to the RC members, most of whom seemed as if they were listening.

The complainant though sat with his arms folded looked rather cross. He said that the cats were scratching his car. I asked if we could come take a look at it, but there was no response. He also claimed the cats had spoiled his antennae.

He kept asking why the cats could not be removed and repeated several times that people should take the cats home even though we kept telling him that removing the cats did not work. We pointed out that if it worked so well, then there should not be new cats.

The complainant kept insisting that there was no problem till recently - but then mentioned that the previous TC officer had kept removing cats. He then started complaining about home owners too. The caregiver said one of the units complained about was hers - and she said the allegation then was that the cats were coming out of her house to bite people, which she said was patently untrue. I guess she knows who complained about her now too.

With his kind of attitude, most probably, some human being had been offended, and damaged his antennna.
He doesn't dare to point his finger at someone his own size, and thus blame it on e cats.

I think there is enough evidence to file a complaint with the Mayor of CDC as well as the MP about
1) His unreasonableness
2) Was he responsible for the wasting of TC fund in asking the last TC officer to remove the cats over his complaints about the cats which are now obviously unsubstantiated?

I think there is an expected appropriate behaviour of a resident in a public RC office and this RC member falls way below par.

Please don't let him get away scot-free because he is obviously letting his personal hatred feeling gets in the way of serving the public.

vegancatsg - might be a bit difficult to call him to task as he is a volunteer too, though I do agree that RC members should behave appropriately. The other RC members also did try and shush him several times.

We did bring up the point that taxpayers' money is being wasted by constant removal and killing.

If only he could produce photos/videos of the cat scratching his car,i will believe the cat did that...other than that,it might just be him spouting nonsense...

See this Cats and Car-Paint

The quick answer is that car duco - if its in half decent condition - is extremely hard (its baked for at least half an hour at over 300ยบ since it has to withstand road gravel hitting it etc). And cats claws are the same hardness as our fingernails. So unless you can scratch off the paint with your fingernail, there is *no way* a cat can scratch the *paint* of the surface of a car that's in a fairly good condition. (Paint does weather though and if its in a really bad state, it can be scratched, but if its that bad it should be a funny colour of white and be in the junk yard).

However, if the car has been *waxed*, the cat's claws (and your fingernails) can remove some of the wax, leaving what looks likes scratches in the paint, but are in fact just places where the surface of the wax has been removed. But then again a cat just walking across a car doesn't *use* claws, so the only way that the cat could scratch the car is if it was trying to somehow get traction on the surface, by either falling off or (dare I say) running for its life.

The worst a cat can do to in normal circumstances is leave cute little muddy cat prints - annoying but not inherently damaging.

This guy is NOT listening. He just wants to be heard and he wants the cats out of his way.
He might seek vindictive ways to get back at the cats.
