Kitten on a string

Kitten on a string
Originally uploaded by dawnkua.

As I was in the vicinity, I went down with the adoption volunteer today and spoke with the man about kitten on a string. I told him that someone from this blog had kindly emailed to say that she would sponsor the sterilisation for this kitten and relayed the information to the man.

He said however that he really wanted to leave Singapore but that it was more difficult than he had anticipated it to be. He said that since he's going to give me the cat then, I can get it sterilised at the same time. He is hoping to leave soon.

I get the distinct impression that this man is just dragging his feet. He obviously loves the cat and does not want to let it go. But why can't he just release the cat already?? He can settle his personal issues separately.

I too agree this "leaving the country" story is just..a story....

Anonymous - I think he wants to keep the cat with him as long as possible before he leaves.

Other Anonymous - I think he really does want to go, but whether he is being naive in believing he will get there is another story.

Dawn,
I went to see him last week of May b4 my travel. He told me he will never give up his cat. It is his 'heart and liver treasure'. I also do not quite believe his leaving the country story but that's his prerogative. He does not owe me any explanation.

Anonymous - at the end of the day, who really knows? As you said, there's nothing we can do if he refuses to give up the cat, except keep asking him to get it sterilised.

He may fear that the kitten would not be returned? Perhaps could let him follow along to the clinic?

I'd be happy to suggest it - but he just says when he leaves he'll give it to me and I can get it sterilised then.

How about microchipping the cat now in case he goes missing or end up somewhere near culling facilities. Does he know SPCA does not guarantee adoption? BTW, what happens to the dog left by ex-NKF chairman? Still alive?

icare - I don't think he'll go for that as he won't allow the kitten to be taken for sterilisation even.

I'm not sure what happened to the dog I'm afraid.

I think this man is just mad.... punching a lady for nothing shows how crazy he is. Most likely mentally disturbed.

Give him a break people, I believe he geniunely cares about the kitten unlike so many other bo-chap owners who don't even care if their cats get taken away by pest control or whatnot
