ST (12-6-07)

Here is an article from today's online forum about the problems some caregivers are facing with their RC :-

Animal carers given short shrift over cats' fate by RC

I'm also glad to see that the forum refers to them as carers and not animal 'lovers' for a change.

Read about Blackie, the Mongrel dog in Yishun whose life was also to be terminated because ONE resident complaint.
In this letter, even in the shoddy RC survey (dishonesty involved?), the ONE who responded against the removal of cats, was totally ignored!
Is this fair?

I thought Blackie has been adopted by the MP?

What happen to Blackie? Mr Goh is not only shoddy in his duty but also lack basic courtesy to his residents as Chairman of his zone.

There should be another group formed to look into animal welfare and against people like Mr Goh.
Shame on him. He devised his own fake survey?

Every complaint should be display openly in the notice board with name, address and contact numbers. Every complaint shopuld be transparent, not giving excuses like protecting cleaners, protecting complainant etc. We don't want people to sit down in one dark corner writing death sentences for community cats or some hiden faces and a serpent's tongue asking for cats's blood and TC and RC chairman like Mr Goh being part of the holocaust.

I just think it's very sad that two complaints are taken so seriously. As Ms Gamp pointed out in her letter, the majority of people they spoke to did not want the cats removed.

Does anyone know the current status of Blackie?

The last I heard Blackie was in a boarding facility. Veganmeowies would be able to give us a better idea.

Boarding faciity is not the best place for Blackie. I thought MP Lee Bee Wah is willing to adopt Blackie? After all that publicity that hail her as a compassionate person, you mean she changed her mind?

Boarding facility means putting Blackie away. He is now separated from the people he loves.

What kind of country is this, terminate lives and destroy love.
Sick nation.

I'm not sure if this is still the case - if Veganmeowies reads this, perhaps she can give an update.

Xiao Hei (Blacky) was adopted by the MP Ms. Lee Bee Wah, after she went to the boarding facility to visit her. Our MP seems to be a very compassionate person, adopting a stray dog and also comforting relatives after the recent drowning incidents. Hope she can extend this compassion to our community cats.
