Cat on a string

Cat on a string
Originally uploaded by dawnkua.

Went by to do some photocopying today (and surprisingly they did it on the spot for me). Also went to collect Rebecca and my name cards from our printer and then headed down to the post office to pick up the mail.

Stopped by to see the cat on a string. The man is still there. He mentioned going away for a few days but he has a friend who he says has two cats who is going to take the cat for a few days. This friend apparently visits the cat every day.

Dear Dawn, this cat is padlocked! Is it healthy?

mary - the lock has been on for a while. It's not a very large lock. Of course I would rather the cat not be chained at all, but the man is not willing to let the kitten off. I asked about the lock once and he claimed it's because people keep snipping the leash.

Yes the cat looks pretty healthy and happy.

I think we've been having this discussion since I first saw the cat a few months ago. No one thinks it is the best way to keep a cat, but what are the options? The man does not want to let the cat go. So far the cat looks healthy and happy and he is never far from the cat. He also checks it every day to make sure the lead is not too tight.

Not that I am aware of. He told me yesterday someone offered him a lot of money for the cat but he ased the person if he could put a price on taking his child!

"Kitten on a string" has now grown to an adult "cat on a string". Has any arrangement been made to sterilised the cat?

Unfortunately he still won't allow it.

Oh dear! That is bad the man does not want the cat sterilised. I hope you explained to him the consequences of having male cat on heat .... the male cat constant cauterwauling when it is on heat will caused the man be having sleepless nights, and un-neutered male cats will usually start urine spraying behavior when it is on heat.
Hopefully when the time comes, the man could not tolerate the nuisance and will have the "cat on a string" sterilised.

Yes I did. I also told him that cat on a string would remain 'cuter' and gave him the brochure.

One of the kind blog readers has even offered to sponsor sterilisation, which I told the man.
