Bench

Lovely verse - the church also has a pamphlet on all the various Biblical verses that have to do with animals which is something I've been looking for. It would be nice to have quotes from all the different religions on their attitudes towards animals.

"Whoever is kind to the creatures of God is kind to himself." - Prophet Muhammad.

I just found out the other day that one of the Prophet's righthand men, Abu Huraira, was known as the Father of Kittens, because he always had his cat with him. He's the one who keeps repeating anything Muhammad said about animals, including:

"A woman was punished because she had kept a cat tied until it died, and (as a punishment of this offence) she was thrown into the Hell. She had not provided it with food, or drink, and had not freed her so that she could eat the insects of the earth."

There are nicer sayings, of course.

Won't have been a kinder and more appropriate punishment if the woman had been made to care for all animals for the rest of her life.

Would (typo corrected) have been a kinder and more appropriate punishment if the woman had been made to care for all animals for the rest of her life.
An eye for an eye and the world goes blind :)

I agree! A lot of the stories reflect the harsh society at the time - it's so scary and brutal at times.

I think the woman should have been given a Corrective Work Services vest. :)
