Poster taken down

One of the town council officers called me this morning about this poster. At the officer's request, I will not blog about most of the conversation as he requested it stay off the record and not be blogged about.

However what I can say is that the officer went down this morning after I clarified with the caregiver where the poster had been put up. The caregiver had also told her own officer about it and asked why it was up. It seems the poster is an old poster from 2005 and was in fact according to the officer I spoke with, an outdated colour poster which was not supposed to be up at all. The poster was immediately taken down by the officer I spoke with and he said that this was a new officer who did not know that the poster should not have gone up on the TC noticeboard in the first place. It was a mistake and not sanctioned by the TC.

I also understand from several sources, including the SPCA who were at the lunch on Saturday, that they had been sent several copies of the poster and that they had written in as well. We were also copied on several emails sent into the TC about the matter.

Mistakes, Mistakes, Mistakes. All this Town Council can do it mistakes.

They are good for nothing.

- Caught the wrong cats.
- Put up wrong poster.
- Say the wrong thing.
- Make the wrong move.

thanks much dawn! it is important that this very darn poster(s) has been taken down. may be just a poster (and so graphically very ugly) placed at some communal noticeboard next to lift landings but it'll surely ignite existing displeasure over efforts given for animal welfare. so, thank you for making the taking of these posters down. And thank you for showing good taste. -orange-

Do you think that they can be persuaded to put up posters which reflect that it is alright to feed cats as long as it is done in a responsible manner? Afterall they have instilled some negativity in those wrongly-put-up-posters so it is fair to do something to correct the wrong view.

No, this stupid TC with antiquated mindset will NOT put up educational posters. The residents have asked them many times and were rejected everytime. Even durig times when TC were in the wrong.

I wasn't present at the conversation, but it's great that the TC made the effort to call Dawn directly, and took down the poster himself. I expect that he preferred it remained anonymous, since the officer who put it up was new - after all, dun need to hammer the new guy in public. ;)

(I try to be positive!)

I agree I was glad that the officer took it seriously and took down the poster immediately Mezzo. I do believe that mistakes can be made and are made and that people shouldn't necessarily be crucified for them as long as they are sorry. The officer who called just to clarify, was not the officer who put up the poster.

I understand from the officer I spoke with that this was not sanctioned by the upper management and that the officer had done it on her own initiative.

Watch out for the new TC officer, why was he so motivated/initiated putting up the anti-cats poster?

He will think of other ways now. Great job by Dawn, SPCA and bloggers for getting the stupid poster down.

huh from what I understand, she was requested to do so by the RC and she didn't clear it with her superiors.

Good to know the poster's down. But the fact the the RC requested for it means there's still potential for problems to crop up?

Hop it will work out.

Can the apology be a pro-active by getting the RC chairperson to contact CWS to talk about the reasons for such posters to be put up so that perhaps an "educational" talk can be given by CWS?

Calsifer - there have been some problems in the area around there because only one portion has a caregiver and she's the one who spotted the poster.

Why another anti-cat RC again?
Its like the same with our Jwest area? No problem with TC and we volunteers but one RC member giving the problem and de whole RC backing him up. I wonder which leader up the line instills anti-cat sentiments.
