Resident wrote in

The caregiver said that the people doing the survey on Sunday had encouraged the people they spoke with to write into the Town council as well if they felt strongly the cats should not be caught. She also went back to speak to one of the people that my survey partner and I spoke with on Friday who had promised to help.

The nice thing is that he said he would write to the town council and he did. He wrote to say that he had parked his car in the same multi-storey carpark for the last seven years and it had never been scratched by a cat, though it had been scratched once by a person. He also said that the cats had never caused any problems to either his family or himself. He asked that the TC please look at the issue from a wider perspective and not because of a single complaint.

He also mentioned that he had explained to his son what was happening and his son had asked him to please stop the TC and not to let them kill the cats because it was so cruel.

He asked the TC to please let the cats remain harmoniously in the estate with the other residents.

The caregiver just texted me to say they are meeting the RC Chairperson tonight and hoping for the best.

As for this case, the AVA for back to me today and it seems that the cleaning contractor had not sent in any cats to them in the last six months. The contractor had told the Town Council officer that the cats had all been sent to the AVA - clearly not the case. Will need to look into this tomorrow when all the various offices are open.

It is about time the Government gives credit to cat caregivers for what is truly active citizenry and hold them up as models for most Singaporeans who are just pathetic and selfishly gratifying who spare no thoughts for their fellow human beings, not to mention animals. It is a blood shame to read of complaints after complaints of cats on cars! So what if cats do really scratch your car. Cars are meant to be multilated over time. Only we have such shallow mentality that we can only be happy if everything we bought is kept in perpetually mint condition.
People who write to me if cats they wish to adopt will scratch their furnitures, are directly to shops that sell statues of cats!

We'll find out tomorrow - but it certainly does sound like someone is lying about the cats going into AVA.
