Happy World Animal Day everyone - I realise it's a little late for you guys but it's still WAD here and I'm getting the times confused :)

Here's something Yskat sent me which apparently is one of the most downloaded videos on Youtube - you can see the kitten is not biting, just nipping for fun :-

Thanks Budak - after watching the video, I have to say the kitty is pretty bitey. I wonder if it is sterilised yet - Sparta looks fairly young as well, with a lot of energy.

yep, sure is a bitey kitty.I hav one big tabby who is cute and affectionate, but he just has this bad habit of loving to bite. Some cats are born like this, most cats never bites(unless they r in danger/scare).My tabby is sterislise, but still e same,he likes to bite.

not to worry, they will grow out of the biting stage. The manja stage will set in and then the bully stage, the whole house is build around them.

I am probably wrong, but i find that bored single kittens tend to bite more. If there are other siblings/cats around, they would have other interesting things to occupy themselves.
Being the only kitten around, the human becomes the main source of moving targets esp fingers or ankles - small enough for kittens to tackle. Teething may be a reason too. After a while, the pouncing/biting becomes a habit.
Kittens grow out of biting but it would take patience & time.

Good point Anonymous - plus sometimes people inadvertently encourage the behaviour when the kitten is young, only to discover it can become quite painful when the kitten is older.
