David Hooi

Some of you may have heard the news already - David Hooi was arrested again.

oh dear ..the poor little kitten. Kudos to civic minded people like Abdul Rahim, Sharifah and all the other neighbours.

I think sending him in and out of jail will not stop him from committing further abuse as he is clearly sick in the head. He needs to be committed in an institution for a long time for treatment.
Dawn, perhaps you can write to AGC and suggest that they invoke some section in the Criminal Procedure Code to keep him in IMH? Not sure if it applies to this type of offence though.

He does not seem to know the suffering he has caused to the innocent kittens.

Anonymous - I don't think he does understand either.

i think he needs professional help such as medication and counselling. otherwise this is a never ending game for him.

I hope the kitten is Ok and in good hands now. Is anyone adopting the kitten? How serious is the bleeding eye? I hv a friend who is interested to care for the kitten.

please! let's stop wasting our gift of empathy. i am sure he knows how painful it is for the kittens and this IS precisely why he is doing what he has done and will continue to do. david hooi should and must be caned and caned and caned and sent to jail and period. it's time - i wish him hell.

Madam Wee, the caregivers are looking after it and we're offering to help with funds if they need it.

Anonymous as I don't know him personally, nor am I a trained professional, I'm not going to speculate.

There are 3 kittens, the first injured kitten is now in SPCA.

The group went in search for the 2 missing kittens for few days and finally found them huddled at the lift lobby. The b/w kitten featured in the Straits Times is now confirmed blind in one eye due to injuries. Police not informed of the finding.

Both kittens were very thin and dehydrated.

Caregiver intends to release them back to the streets at a later date. But David is roaming freely...

I read the S.T. today. Understand the kitten had lost its right eye. I really feel so sad. May I know who is caring for the kitten now. Hope the caregiver can permanently care for this pitiful kitten. because it will not survive on the streets in future with only one eye.

If a person committed serial rape/murder/abuse toward other individuals of the human race, would the court be as lenient?

NB: I have seen a one-eyed feline doing quite well in the Bedok Reservoir area, animals are a lot more resilient then we think.

The caregiver is doing her best and won't be able to keep the 2 kittens for long, her small flat is full of cats. She is in my opinion, the poorest of the poor caring for the poorest!

I am worry about the one at SPCA, what will happen to it after the investigation? Please indicate interest to adopt the kitten now.

Due to the high profile ST coverage, be extra alert of morons who believe cats are not allowed in flats or be resent in HDB estate and may complain to TC.

We have seen and heard enough
evil to recognise the pattern.

more importantly, please do not ever stop looking out for your area. This article may just "remind" those psychos of the "spree" they had and may go out again to "revenge" for their psycho group.
Where did David Hooi get those kittens from? I thought the caregivers would have sterilised the area?

I understand from one of the caregivers that they have found someone interested in adopting the kitten. However I don't have any further details.

guttercat - I think if someone was a serial rapist/abuser/murderer, the court would still look into other factors such as the person's mental health. I do think however that repeatedly jailing him isn't working as we can clearly see. Something else has to be done.

Anonymous I agree - it's important to keep an eye on your area always. I don't think that people would necessarily 'revenge' David Hooi as I doubt they know each other, but there is always the possibility of copycats.

Don't know who the caregivers in that area, but suspect David the sicko could have taken kittens from anywhere. His flat is next to a market and cat dumping is an ongoing thing.

Please patrol blk 544.

I remember reading in the papers that he suffers from antisocial personality disorder. People of this sort don't know that they have done anything wrong. He is also of low IQ i think...

O David may seem to have low 'social' IQ but he can be sharp at times...the evil part has a destructive quality that put animals and society in danger.

yah, I read that he is abit mentally unsound?? Still, tt shld nt give him the license to kill and abuse cats.Killing is bad enuf, abusing til death is condemning.

Shld impose canning. Then mayb he will know wad pain is, and tt he is causing 100X more pain to the kittens he tortured.

Jail-term ornot, he shld still be kept under some form of monitor to ensure tt he after jail term he does nt come out and abuse cats again. House imprisonment or someting??

One possibility as Anonymous suggested is perhaps detaining him - but more in a psychiatric facility rather than a jail. That way he would get treatment, and not be a danger to the cats.

Yes, David has low IQ. Spore Court??

If the am the judge, I too will not know what is best for David Hooi. It's not easy to deal with a mental patient like Hooi, whose's hobby is killing cats..

But someone has to check on him daily .. right! just to make sure there is no cat in his flat
