Lawsuit against LA County's Department of Animal Care and Control

Interesting case - some people, including the No Kill Advocacy Centre, are filing a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County's Department of Animal Care and Control. They allege that the Department of Animal Care and Control has not treated the animals under their care appropriately. For the article, click here.

Any lawyers to offer free service to sue AVA for possible poor treatment of the animals under their care! Why is AVA not allowing independent welfare groups like the SPCA to witness how it kills the animals there to squash rumours we hear now and then!

why the need to hide behind walls for suffocating puppies with poisonous gas and making killing a primary activity?

Let the public see how animals die each year. BTW, I can't stomach the sight of a goat about to be sacrified fro some religious ceremony...please, it's too hideous.

Quote from the website
"From entrenched bureaucrats who are content with the status quo, to uncaring shelter directors hostile to calls for reform; from agencies mired in the failed philosophies of the past to those who have internalized a culture of defeatism"

Certainly applies to PPD, now renamed AVA but remains a killing field in there whose mindset is set on KILL. AVA even insists that CWS endorses its KILLING mentally for inserts of humane methods in the FREE loans of traps to KILL.

Will we ever CULL this mentality in AVA and get it to do the RIGHT thing!

Anonymous, let me clarify that as far as we know, the AVA puts animals down using lethal injection. They have come out publicly to say so.If you have any other reliable information, please let us know.

Anonymous - I think different people have different beliefs. Some people believe it is part of a religious ritual (as you do). Others do not like to see any animal killed - and do not believe animals ARE part of the food chain. Let's all try and respect each other's beliefs.

The head of animal control said puppies were and are given poisonous gas. Please reconfirm with him.

It is not just about death itself. It's the process and the fearful emotion when one is FORCED to be killed in the name of FOODCHAIN. These animals are bred to for human consumption, it is never considered to be natural or called it foodchain. It is for the sake of human craving for the flesh and bloody food.
No one, even us, never want or volunteer to go through this for another one's food even you have the sharpest of knives. Didn't we witness they were crying and struggling out of extreme fear to not to be slaughtered? Did you ever look into their eyes? Whether it's in the name of foodchain or other religious reasons, would you want to be slaughtered too? Ask the cats. Ask the cows. Ask the cattles. Taste their flesh.

I just called and spoke with him - he clarified it is lethal injection. Perhaps you want to email me if you have any additional information you'd like to share privately like when you spoke with him?

bmx - I agree with you that I wouldn't want to volunteer to be killed. Nor would any of us I'm sure. However the scope of the religious is beyond this blog - for one thing I don't know enough about it. Let's respect that each of us may have different religious beliefs.

Yes, of course i still respect them. There are many other very good sides of their beliefs too.
Even myself is just too far from being considered fairly good.

Just cannot tahan the word 'food chain' being used here.

Million Apologies..
Back to feline issues.

..whatever!!..this is one is an angel..u expect to be one?...lets not talk abt religion now ok...

if a tiger eats a cow..does it means that it is evil? is called food should it be vegeterian?...the cow does not asked to be sacrificed and neither wants to be is juz the ways life is..this is world..true enough..we might want to eat meat and taste the food..but it is called food for a reason...

i respect that u guys are into animal rights and stuff...but please use ur brain a bit..please be realistic... may seem cruel..but this is life...and food are long as they dun die a painful death..i have seen how they are slaughtered before..for ur info..the way the muslims slaughter animal is more painless than how the other slaughter house slaughtered their animals...

...i admire u and respect that you love animals adn u can't bear to see them slaughtered..but not evryone is like you..the reason why i start this comment is because i can't accept you publicly voicing out abt animals which is related to food..

i love animals..especially cats..and i belive we are suppose to dicuss abt how to make our cats life better..

Anonymous I believe bmx has said that bmx intends to steer clear of any non-cat related matters.

I also said that I hope that people will respect each other's beliefs. If you are asking that people respect your religious beliefs, then I ask that you extend the same common courtesy to them. I don't think it's very polite to say that people should respect your religious beliefs and then to turn around and say that if someone is vegetarian that is their problem. Clearly vegetarianism is also a belief (though it may not be a religion).

If you wish to comment on this blog, I ask that you extend the same courtesy that you are demanding of others. You clearly believe that animals are food - others do not. They are as entitled to their beliefs as you are to yours. If you cannot respect that and continue name calling, then please do not post.
